Dr. David Nelles, M.D.

Dr. David Nelles specializes in the surgical treatment of many spinal conditions, using a variety of different techniques. He attended Truman State University in Missouri for his undergraduate degree in biology. Dr. Nelles graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2009, after which he attended the orthopedic residency at Wright State University in Ohio. He completed a one-year fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at Kaiser Permanented in Oakland.

After his fellowship, Dr. Nelles spent over 5 years in a large private practice group in the Bay Area. Following this he joined the practice at SF Spine. There he participates in the education of residents at the San Francisco Orthopedic Residency Program at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He continues to focus on utilizing a variety of surgical techniques, ensuring that every patient receives the best surgical approach specific to their condition. He has a special interest in employing minimally invasive surgery to improve patient outcomes.
